Katherine Hilton

I'm a lecturer in the Stanford University Linguistics Department, where I teach courses on sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, and general linguistics. My research investigates questions like: How do people use language to shape their social relationships? Why and how do languages change over time? And what can people's opinions about language tell us about linguistic structure and social norms?
